Young Guns set for Rd 1 of Honda ‘Groms on the Gas’
Round 1 of the exciting new Honda Grom’s on the Gas Competition is set to launch on March the 25th and 26th at Victoria’s Maffra/Sale circuit.
Victorian junior motocross riders between the ages of 8 and 15 years will go head to head in four gruelling categories to see who will represent their state later in the year in the ‘Final Showdown.’
The competition, while being aimed at all levels of junior riders, has attracted some big names that are keen to get their hands on the big prize at the end of the year including:
- A factory support ride from Honda Motorcycles
- A paid trip to contest the World Mini Grand Prix in Las Vegas-
- And a host of other big name sponsors to complete the package
- Not to mention feature stories in both Dirt Action magazine and MXTV
A couple of big names entered for the Victorian leg are Troy McNally and Dylan Long. Troy is 15 years of age and a former Victorian and National Junior Champ who currently rides for the Yamaha Junior Development Team, while Dylan at just 13 years of age already has a few state titles under his belt. Having ridden for Factory Junior Teams through most of his junior career, Dylan and his family are now doing their own thing with the support of private sponsors.
Honda Motorcycles Brand Manager Phil Reynolds is happy with the Groms on the Gas concept.
"I think it is great for the overall professionalism ofjunior motocross how Lee has incorporated public speaking and fitness into the scoring criteria," said Reynolds.
